My wife and I bought our house almost 3 years ago here in Trabue Woods. All the neighbors are very friendly and look out for one another. As much as I hate to be negative, I must be. My wife was approached by one of our neighbors who felt the need to tell my wife that she needed to slow down while she is driving down the street and he also stated that I drive too fast as well. As far as I know the speed limit is 25 mph and I rarely even hit 15 going down my street because of various reasons, which I will get to. I respect the fact that the neighbor mentioned this to my wife, however there are many reasons why this angered me. To this day, I do not know this persons name nor does my wife because he or his family never introduced themselves. Anytime my wife and I see someone we usually wave as it's the polite thing to do. But after a while of not getting a wave back, those things tend to stop. Also the reason my wife was told not to drive so fast, in which going past 15 mph rarely happens, she was told that his 1 year old plays in the street and he doesn't want him to get hit. My question is "why do we let children play in the street?" We all have yards, front and back, no matter what the speed limit is, is it ever really safe for a child to be playing in the street? Again I respect the gentleman for saying something, but I feel it was a bit out of line, especially the way it was done. We have a 1 year old and she has never been on the street and we have 2 kids 9 years and older, who are forbidded to play on the street. That is why we have a yard. Also with all the cars parked on the street along with a commercial vehicle, which I thought you were not allowed to do, (correct me if I am wrong) you cant drive fast down the street because of the possibility of hitting the cars on both sides of you. Again I apologize if the neighbors feel my wife and I drive too fast and I will be sure to go way under the speed limit. I didn't know the neighbors carried a radar gun around, but safety first. As inappropriate as this posting may be, is as inappropriate as the conversation my neighbor had with my wife. I drive very carefully and respect my neighbors and their children. I just wish everyone did the same. To prevent my kids from ever potentially getting hit by a car, again they are forbidded on the streets for that reason! There are many inappropriate things that happen on my street but I dont say a word, as I dont get into anyone's personal business. I apologize again if some feel this is negative, as my family does love living here! We have made some great friends here, and everyone watches out for everyone. But if some neighbors feel they can voice their opinion, then why cant I?

I don't know about your street but I sure can speak about the park area. I take children to play in our park area and can't believe how fast people drive past that park. If someone child was out in the street they would definitely be killed no doubt. We have a man on our street that also tells people about their driving and I do have to admit my children sometimes play in the street while riding their bikes along with other neighborhood kids. No, children shouldn't play in the street your are correct but it is going to happen. Yes the speed limit is 25 mph. You have every right to voice your opinion just be careful because you have to live with these people in here. Yes you are also correct about the commercial vehicles. Once we get the property management company into place those issues will be addressed. Keep in mind enforcing deed restrictions is going to cost money and also is due collections. Our dues are staying the same but the 5% increase every year; you could be charged assessments to meet the demands of the neighborhood. The board trustees still have the voting rights to yea or nah any ideal regarding property management co but we also have the right to enforce issues that arise. I hope my writing kind helped out a little.
Pam, I do appreciate the feedback, but to get everyone to follow the rules and keep our development safe, I would pay what is necessary. The homeowners who rent out their houses, are they required to give the renters the deed restrictions or at least give them a copy? When I had the fire department at my house a couple months ago for a carbon monoxide alarm, the fire truck barely made it through the street and one of the firemen did make a comment about it. With the cars parked on the street and the commercial vehicle, the vision of the driver is obstructed. We all have driveways but they are not used, which baffles me. It's fine if kids play in the street, but let's remove the vehicles from the side of the street so we can see them running from behind it, or not park 4 vehicles in one area of the street. The only reccomendation I have for those parents who let their kids on the street to play, if they are not old enough, is to have an adult supervising them with eyes all over their head, and not other children.
