Trabue Woods HOA casts affirmative vote for reporter position 

I am a homeowner in Trabue Woods and have lived here since building my home in 1999. I have been witness as most of us have to the slow deterioration of our neighborhood and the past corruption of the HOA and theft of our funds.

As you know we have had changes in our HOA administration and our new Board and Officers are working to develop and improve communication. This web site is one implement to facilitate that goal.  

If you monitor the web site then you know monthly meeting minutes are posted as well as updates. If you check meeting minutes and updates then you probably also tune in to the discussion board from time to time. The discussion board seems to fluctuate from extreme activity, and sometimes not very pretty activity, to absolutely nothing at all. Discussion board topics are diverse and at times point out information, situations and questions that are important to us as a whole and offer bits of news worthily events. There is also displayed blatant proof of skepticism concerning the government of our HOA which under the circumstances are not entirely unreasonable.  

I submitted a letter of intent recommending the HOA consider creating a reporter position to assist with timely and thorough communication for two reasons. The first reason is there are only five volunteers in our HOA and simply not enough time to update us on everything that happens. The second reason is as in any democratic government there must be checks and balances to ensure the protection of the people, in this case the home owner. I recommended that the individual appointed to this position not be subjected to the usual Board or Officer Endorsement for home owner safety and in an effort to reduce “tap dancing” around the facts. My letter of intent was reviewed during the December monthly meeting and with a majority vote and I am now the Trabue Woods Reporter. 

Please let me confess upfront that I am not nor have I ever been a reporter or journalism major, I am a nurse; but will in any case report the facts as they occur. I am committed to freedom of speech and I intend to report any event or situation either good or bad that is important for you as a home owner to know. I most likely will not be politically correct but will never single out or directly name a home owner and my focus will be directed by and large at the HOA activity. Our HOA continues to work very hard for the betterment of our community and has pledged to be transparent, I am hopeful my efforts will assist in that commitment.
