A Holiday Poem

Twas last Saturday evening when all through the hood

Everyone was inside, just as they should.

The night air was chilly the streets were all wet,

Not a sound could be heard not even a pet.

The children were playing and dinner was done,

As all snuggled in for a weekend of fun.

The TV displayed a sweet holiday show,

And the weather called for a dusting of snow.

When out in the park there rose such a clatter,

That we sprang to our feet to see what was the matter.

Away to the window we ran in surprise,

Pulled open the curtains adjusted the blinds.

The street lamp shed light on the swings and the slide,

And the walk way glistened along the curb side.

When what to our wondering eyes come to view,

But a small group of people and more than a few.

The HOA president all the Board members too,

The secretary, vice president and their children too.

With cups of hot chocolate they toasted with cheer,

The holiday season was finally here.

With pages of lyrics in one hand held tight,

In the other was witnessed a glimmering flash light.

Their voices gave rise to laughter and fun,

The holiday caroling had finally begun.

Decked out in lights and festive apparel,

Throughout the hood they waddled and caroled

And although their voices were shrill and quite loud,

Their comment and efforts have made us all proud.
