NEW BICYCLE HELMET LAW EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY!>
Crime in Our Neighborhood

24 Jun 2008

If you have been keeping up with the discussion board you know many of our neighbors have been victims of break-ins and vandalism. Debbie Gordon has been in contact with Officer Paulis who reports Trabuewoods is not the only community being targeted. He has requested the 3rd shift police officers increase their patrol of our neighborhood.

Last night around 11pm Debbie received a call from a concerned homeowner on Kellerman Ct. who observed 2 unknown men park their car on Kellerman Ct. then walk down Sherwill toward Nickerson. This homeowner also contacted other homeowners within close proximity of the parked car to ascertain possible identification. No one was familiar with the car and the CPD was called and an officer did respond. The owner was idtentified and does not live in Trabuewoods or even nearby. The officer drove around the development but saw no one.

Within a matter of minutes 8 homes responded on Kellerman Ct and Sherwill Dr. and owners emerged from their homes collecting on the sidewalk and street. Several on Sherwill called their friends on Canaday and Nickerson and soon the surrounding area was lit by the turning on of front and back lights. These men may have intended no harm and their visit innocent but with our recent history we were taking no chances.

This, people is a block watch in action even if not formalized.

The police can not continuously patrol our streets so it is up to us to take notice of any suspicious activity or strangers. If you wake at 3 in the morning look out your window and if anyone is walking down the street, sitting on your neighbors steps, sitting in a parked car or driving multiple times down your street call the police. If you don’t know your neighbor become acquainted and exchange phone numbers so others can be alerted and keep your front and back lights on.

I’m not advocating that you should take to the streets as we did last night but I am strongly urging you to keep alert and get to know each other. If you are interested in forming a block watch on your street contact Debbie Gordon by phone or a feedback form and she will be able to direct and assist you.

It’s time to take your neighborhood back!
