Earth Day at Trabuewoods

21 May 2008

Trabuewoods celebrated their own Earth Day on Saturday April 26th  as a group of homeowners joined forces to clean up our neighborhood park. The HOA was contacted by Christina Chubb who routinely enjoys the park with her little boy Thomas. Christina expressed concern over the accumulating litter and multiple piles of dog poop throughout the park and offered a solution. She suggested the HOA sponsor the first Trabuewood's Earth Day and volunteered to assist in anyway she could.

Pam Johnson organized the event and to be honest I don’t think the HOA or Christina expected a big turn out. It is no secret that there has not been much expressed interest for volunteering in the past so the usual group including Christina and Thomas gathered their rakes, shovels, hedge trimmers, trash bags and pooper scoopers and headed to the park on Saturday afternoon. As trucks and vans were being unloaded to begin the clean up, to the surprise and delight of all, the park came alive with homeowners who, without a word, began picking up trash, raking, trimming, scooping and sweeping. Moms and dads brought their little ones who tried to help but as the afternoon wore on the little boys and girls began making new friends as they played on and around the swings and slide……in a much cleaner park!

The HOA would like to acknowledge and thank the following people for giving their Saturday afternoon to the ongoing betterment of our community.

Christina Chubb, Thomas Chubb, Cindy Ginter, Zane Ginter, Kevin Cross, Kala Cross, Aubrey Cross, Eric Nord, Tory Nord, Christian Johnson, Gregory Johnson, Bridgette Hazelett, Amaya Hazelett, Jerod Cook, Jameson Cook, Debbie Gordon, Mike Schlegler, Pam Johnson, Nancy Tucci, Beth Lintz and Bob Agriesti for the use of his tools.

Just a reminder to the dog owners, please clean up after your pets. It is so disgusting stepping in or finding your little one covered in dog doo!

Please see pictures from the event.
